PGPD Investigates Fatal Crash in Cheltenham

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Cheltenham. The victim is 48-year-old Betty Yake of Annapolis Woods Road in Welcome, Maryland.

On January 14, 2015, at about 12:55 am, patrol officers were called to the 10800 block of Blackstone Avenue for the report of a crash. When they arrived, they found Yake suffering from critical injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation reveals Yake was traveling northbound on Blackstone Avenue when for reasons which remain unclear, she crossed into the southbound lanes, left the roadway and struck a tree.
