Darell Alfred

The Homicide Unit arrested the suspect wanted for the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Shamica Briggs in Springdale last month. The suspect is 33-year-old Darell Alfred of the 700 block of Quarry Avenue in Capitol Heights.

On February 25th, at about 2:35 am, officers were called to the 10000 block of Yellowwood Lane. Officers found the victim in the roadway suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the fatal shooting stemmed from an argument between the suspect and victim. Alfred is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections and is being held on a no-bond status.
