Suspect in Custody for Double Homicide in City of District Heights

Karon Moore

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged a suspect in connection with a double homicide in District Heights last Thursday. He is 20-year-old Karon Moore of the 6500 block of Hilmar Drive in Forestville.

On July 6th, at about 12:55 am, City of District Heights officers and Prince George’s County Police officers responded to a call for sounds of gunshots in the 6600 block of Atwood Street. When they arrived, they found the two victims outside in an apartment complex parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead on the scene. The victims are 34-year-old Phillip Michael of 13th Street in Southeast Washington and 31-year-old Kenneth Edmonds of Atwood Street.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect and victims were part of a larger group that had been in an argument prior to the shootings. The suspect and victims were acquaintances.

Moore is charged with first and second degree murder. He’s in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
