Detectives Arrest Suspect in District Heights Homicide in October


Homicide Unit detectives identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in the city of District Heights in October. The suspect is 37-year-old Davon Freeman of the 2300 block of Delano Lane in District Heights.

On October 1st, at approximately 10:50 am, District Heights Police officers responded to the 6500 block of Kipling Parkway for the report of an unconscious man. When they arrived, the officers discovered the victim, 51-year-old Charles Wyche of Fort Washington, outside in an alleyway suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed Freeman as the suspect. The preliminary investigation reveals he shot the victim during a robbery. The suspect and victim were acquaintances. 

Freeman is charged with first degree murder. He’s in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
